Congratulations to the Prefect Board of the St. Paul’s Convent School Secondary Section for the huge success of the ”Linking Hearts, Linking Communities” fund-raising campaign for the victims of the Japan earthquake and tsunami. This campaign was launched by the Prefect Board jointly with the St. Paul’s Convent School Primary Section, St. Paul’s Kindergarten and St. Paul’s Day Nursery. A total of HK$591,651 was raised and all donations have been sent to the Caritas for donations to Earthquake and Tsunami Victims in Japan.
It is our pleasure that the PTA was invited to take part in the fund-raising campaign and contributed by teaching the students at SPCS Day-Nursery, Kindergarten, and Primary Sections to fold hearts on 4.04.2011, 6.04.2011 and 7.04.2011 respectively, as well as counting the donations on 27.04.2011 and 28,04.2011. Our heartfelt thanks go to the 37 parent helpers [please refer to the list or parent helpers attached] for their enthusiasms and support for this event.
The closing ceremony held on Thursday, May 4, 2011 was a delightful finale for this meaningful event. It started with a warm prayer, followed by a simple but meaningful ceremony in which representatives from Day-Nursery, Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary Sections as well as the PTA assembled a map of Japan, by sticking puzzle tiles with folded hearts on them, to deliver our best wishes to the victims of earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Then, Ms Cheung from World Wide Fund for Nature gave a talk on ‘Climate Change’ to address the dangerous impacts of climate change the world has witnessed so far and alert us of the importance of protecting the nature.
It is no doubt that this event has helped to nurture our kids to extend their care to people in need in another part of the world. We are thrilled by the Prefect Board for coming up with such a brilliant idea to organizing this meaningful event and all the participants for the heart folding campaign as well as the donations.
