The 4th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the SPCS PTA (Association) was successfully held on a beautiful afternoon on Saturday, 9 October, 2010 at the School’s covered playground. The event was kicked off by a tea party at 2pm for members and teachers to get together and at 2:30pm the annual general meeting was called to order. Close to 110 parents and teachers attended the event that day. We are also grateful that our Honourable Guests Ms Annie Fung, Vice President, Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations of the Central and Western District, Ms Gigi Mak, SPCS PTA Legal Advisor and Mr Patrick Tse, SPCS PTA Auditor also kindly graced us with their presence in the event.
The meeting was commenced by an opening address by the PTA Advisor Principal Rev Sr Margaret who expressed her sincere appreciations to the Association for arranging remarkable activities and cooperating with School on many events and occasions. Rev Sr Margaret also conveyed her special thanks to Chairlady Lina Cheng for her dedications to the Association since it was established and her superb leadership for the past two years.
On behalf of the Association, the Chairlady also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the PTA Advisor Principal Rev Sr. Margaret for her trust and support for the past years since the Association was established, 2009/10 PTA Executive Committee Members, Legal Advisor, Auditor, Parents, Teachers and school volunteer groups for their invaluable advice and contribution offered to the PTA in the past year.
In addition to passing the resolutions of the Minutes of the 3rd Annual General Meeting, the Chairman’s Report and the Treasurer’s Report in 2009/10, Proposed Amendments to Constitutions regarding change of financial period as well as organizations of the Association were also passed by the members unanimously at the meeting.
Furthermore, as in the previous AGM, 12 PTA Executive Committee nominees in 2010/11 were also elected uncontested and approved by the members. They were also inaugurated at the meeting.
Another highlight of the event was the inspiring and informative talk presented by our special guest, Dr Sandra Tsang on “How to Build and Sustain Good Family Relationship?” (如何與家人建立及維持良好關係) Dr. Sandra Tsang Kit Man is Head and Associate Professor of the Department of Social Work and Social Administration of The University of Hong Kong. She is a Registered Clinical Psychologist of the Hong Kong Psychological Society and the British Health Professions Council, a Registered Social Worker, an Accredited Family Mediator, and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Psychological Society. Her research, publications and media profile focus on children with special educational needs, parent education, children and youth development and drug prevention.
To convey the gratitude from the Association, Certificates of Appreciation was presented to the Executive Committee members in 2009/10 by PTA Advisor Principal Rev Sr Margaret. A simple hand-over ceremony by the immediate past Executive Committee and the newly elected Executive Committee was also held after the announcement of the newly elected Executive Committee
Last but not least, the meeting came to an end with fun and happiness from a surprise episode of lucky draw by PTA Advisor Principal Rev Sr Margaret. Lucky ones were presented endearing stuffy toys by our Honorable Guests.
